We are looking for a highly skilled Compliance Officer to support ongoing regulatory compliance and help strengthen PayDo's compliance framework.
This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong regulatory knowledge, analytical thinking and sound judgement, and who is comfortable taking ownership of compliance matters and working across the business.
Responsibilities
- Work on strategic compliance projects and cross-departmental initiatives.
- Respond to regulatory initiatives by providing leadership and direction on projects required to meet our regulatory obligations.
- Support long-term compliance strategy and enhance the departmental governance framework, ensuring policies and procedures remain fit for purpose.
- Create, maintain and implement compliance policies, procedures and operational SOPs.
- Conduct comprehensive compliance and financial crime risk assessments across the Company.
- Prepare, review and submit regulatory reports and supplementary information requested by the FCA or external auditors.
- Prepare Board and compliance reports, governance papers and monthly management information, providing clear recommendations to strengthen the control framework and improve the performance of the function.
- Act as an internal source of expertise, providing guidance and sound judgement on regulatory obligations, audits, regulatory engagement, compliance risks and business development.
- Support ongoing regulatory compliance and act as a key liaison with the FCA and other relevant UK authorities.
- Coordinate with Compliance and Operations teams to strengthen internal controls and support the implementation of risk mitigation and monitoring strategies.
- Support compliance training, audits and assessments/testing of system effectiveness.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of Compliance experience within financial services, an EMI, PSP, bank or fintech environment.
- Strong practical understanding of the UK regulatory framework and FCA requirements applicable to EMIs.
- Experience establishing, maintaining and enhancing compliance frameworks, policies, procedures and controls.
- Experience conducting compliance and financial crime risk assessments.
- Experience preparing regulatory reports, governance materials and management information.
- Experience supporting regulatory engagements, audits and regulatory information requests.
- Strong understanding of financial crime risks relevant to digital payments, cross-border transactions, fraud, sanctions, high-risk jurisdictions and fintech delivery channels.
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, workable solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of responsibility and ownership.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
It would be a plus if you have
- Experience working directly with the FCA.
- Professional qualifications such as ICA, ACAMS or equivalent.
- Experience with UK regulatory reporting.
- Experience with Visa/Mastercard reporting processes and liaison.
- Experience in the cryptocurrency industry and/or acquiring products.
- A legal education.
