Do you enjoy cooking good, traditional food?
We are looking for a Cook who genuinely enjoys cooking and takes pride in preparing tasty, wholesome meals for our residents.
This is not simply a job for someone who has worked in a care home before. We are looking for someone who can cook!
You may have experience working in a professional kitchen, restaurant, pub, school, hotel or care home — or you may simply be someone who has a real passion for cooking and is confident preparing food for larger numbers of people.
What we are looking for
We want someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys cooking
- Can prepare traditional, home-style meals that residents will enjoy
- Is confident cooking larger quantities of food while maintaining quality
- Understands that cooking for 30, 40 or more people is very different from cooking at home
- Takes pride in presentation, taste and portion sizes
- Can plan and prepare balanced meals
- Is happy preparing traditional favourites such as roasts, casseroles, pies, stews, curries, puddings and other home-cooked dishes
- Can adapt meals to individual dietary requirements
- Is organised and able to manage preparation and cooking times
- Understands the importance of food hygiene and safe food handling
- Works well independently but is also a good team player
- Most importantly, cares about the food they serve and the people they are cooking for
Experience
Previous experience as a care-home cook is not essential.
We are much more interested in your ability to cook good food in quantity, your attitude and your passion for cooking.
If you have experience cooking for large families, events, schools, pubs, restaurants, hotels or other catering environments, we would love to hear from you.
Your role
You will be responsible for preparing nutritious and enjoyable meals for our residents, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks as required.
You will have the opportunity to contribute ideas to menus and bring your own cooking style and favourite traditional dishes to the kitchen.
We want our residents to look forward to mealtimes — good food is an important part of their day.

- working schedule - 7.30 am to 1.30 pm and 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm
