Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assessor/Tutor to join our team for the delivery and assessment of Health and Social Care qualifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting learners throughout their qualification journey by delivering training, assessing learner competence, and ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment are maintained in line with awarding organisation requirements.
This role is ideal for an individual with experience in teaching, training, and assessment within the Health and Social Care sector who is passionate about learner achievement and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective teaching sessions for Health and Social Care qualifications
- Assess learners working towards NVQ/Adult Care qualifications in line with awarding body requirements
- Conduct learner assessments using various assessment methods including observations, professional discussions, witness testimonies, and portfolio reviews
- Support learners in building and completing their portfolios within agreed timelines
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching resources, and learning materials to support learner development
- Provide constructive, clear, and timely feedback to learners to support progress and achievement
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records of assessments, attendance, and learner documentation
- Ensure all assessment decisions are fair, valid, reliable, and consistent
- Support learners with action planning and identify any additional learning support needs
- Work closely with the IQA team to ensure compliance with internal quality assurance procedures
- Participate in standardisation meetings, training sessions, and quality assurance activities
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of qualification frameworks, industry standards, and best practices within Health and Social Care
- Promote equality, diversity, safeguarding, and inclusive learning practices at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience within the Health and Social Care sector
- Experience in teaching, training, or assessing vocational qualifications
- AET (Award in Education and Training) qualification is essential
- A recognised Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent) is preferred
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage learner caseloads effectively and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Good IT and administrative skills
- Commitment to learner achievement, safeguarding, and continuous improvement
Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
