We are looking for an experienced Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) Technical Officer to support the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants, helping disabled and vulnerable residents live safely and independently in their own homes.
Working closely with Occupational Therapists, contractors and customers, you will manage adaptation projects from initial referral through to completion. You will carry out feasibility visits, prepare schedules of work, monitor contractors, oversee inspections and ensure projects are delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) cases from referral through to completion
- Carry out feasibility visits and assess adaptation requirements alongside Occupational Therapists
- Prepare schedules of work, specifications and technical drawings for home adaptations
- Obtain quotations, evaluate tenders and appoint contractors
- Monitor works on site, undertake interim and final inspections and ensure contractor compliance
- Process invoices, monitor budgets and maintain accurate project records
- Provide advice and support to residents, contractors and partner agencies throughout the adaptation process
- Prepare planning and building control applications where required
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, policies and health and safety requirements
Requirements
- Experience delivering Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) or home adaptation projects
- Experience working with Occupational Therapists, surveyors and contractors
- Knowledge of Disabled Facilities Grant legislation and housing adaptations
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schedules of work and building plans
- Experience preparing specifications, monitoring contractors and carrying out site inspections
- Strong organisational, communication and customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience maintaining project records
- HHSRS qualification and a Level 4 qualification in Construction (or equivalent) are desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence
