We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager with an electrical bias to oversee the delivery of electrical remedial works within the social housing sector. Based in Hertford, this hybrid role will focus on managing programmes of remedial works, ensuring properties are brought up to compliance standards while maintaining high levels of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing operatives, subcontractors, programmes, and client relationships, ensuring all remedial works are completed within agreed timescales and in line with electrical regulations and housing compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of electrical remedial works across social housing properties, from initial instruction through to completion and certification.
- Oversee programmes of remedial works identified through EICRs, inspections, and compliance surveys.
- Coordinate electricians, supervisors, subcontractors, and resources to ensure works are completed efficiently.
- Monitor progress, productivity, quality, and completion targets against agreed KPIs.
- Review electrical reports, identify required remedial actions, and ensure works are prioritised appropriately.
- Ensure all completed works comply with current electrical regulations, including BS 7671 and client compliance requirements.
- Manage resident appointments, access issues, and customer service concerns to minimise disruption.
- Liaise with housing associations, local authorities, and client representatives to provide regular updates and performance reports.
- Carry out site inspections, quality checks, and audits to ensure workmanship meets required standards.
- Manage variations, costs, materials, and resource allocation.
- Ensure all certification, documentation, and compliance records are completed accurately and submitted within deadlines.
- Investigate defects, complaints, and failed inspections, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Support continuous improvement by reviewing performance data and identifying areas for improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience managing electrical contracts or remedial works within social housing.
- Strong electrical knowledge and understanding of EICRs, remedial actions, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing electricians, subcontractors, and field-based teams.
- Good understanding of housing maintenance processes, KPIs, and client expectations.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet strict deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Electrical Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent).
- SMSTS / IOSH qualification.
- Experience working with councils, housing associations, or main contractors.
Pay: £65,000.00 per year
