Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Cafe Assistant to join our team in a bustling takeaway cafe setting. The ideal candidate will assist in various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the cafe.
This position includes barista work, food preparation, cleaning, doing dishes, and stocking.
Expected hours: Flexible. We are looking for someone who can work 20-40 hours per week
---- Students are welcome to apply, but must be available during term time.
---- Experience preferred. Full training will be provided.
---- Ideally, must have availability Monday-Friday between 6:30am-3:30pm. The odd weekend shift may be part of the rota as well.
Main Duties
1. BARISTA
- Making coffees and other drinks
- Using the till and handling cash
2. FOOD PREPARATION
- Making various sandwiches, paninis, wraps, etc.
- Helping with prep for sandwich fillings etc.
- Provide help to customers with their orders
- keeping track of food orders
3. CLEANING AND STOCKING
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the cafe
- Dishes are shared among all staff members
- stock packaging and other supplies throughout shift
4. Cooking hot food
- If a candidate has experience cooking with a fryer/grill. There is also opportunity to do additional hours in the kitchen.
Skills
- Proficiency in basic maths for handling transactions
- Strong organisational skills
- Knowledge of food safety practices
- Excellent time management abilities
- Previous experience in food preparation is desirable but not essential
Ideal Candidate
- Starting times from 6.30am. - Must have reliable means of transport at this time.
- Students are welcome to apply but must be available for work during term time.
- Enthusiastic and customer-focused
- Barista expereince is a plus, but not required
- Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
