Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant to join the early years team within a specialist provision. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting young children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring they receive tailored learning experiences that foster their development and confidence. Duties
- Support the delivery of individualised learning plans for children with SEND, including those with autism and other physical disabilities
- Assist teachers in implementing engaging activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to children, especially those requiring additional help with communication skills or toddler and personal care
- Observe and monitor children’s progress, recording developmental milestones and behavior patterns
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence
- Support children during daily routines such as playtime, snack time, and transitions to ensure their needs are met with patience and understanding
- Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure consistent support tailored to each child's unique requirements
Skills
- Proven experience working with children in early years settings or special education environments
- Experience working with individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities is highly desirable
- EYFS Qualifications and desirable but not mandatory
- Knowledge of the principles of special education and inclusive teaching strategies
- Ability to provide toddler care and support young children's developmental needs
- Compassionate approach combined with patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for supporting diverse learners
- Ability to follow instructions accurately while maintaining a proactive attitude towards child development
