We’re looking for an experienced Air Freight Transport Controller (Nights) to join a well-established logistics operation based near Heathrow!
This is a key role within the night operation, where you’ll take ownership of the transport function throughout the shift, coordinating a fleet of around 20 drivers and ensuring time-critical freight continues to move efficiently.
Working as part of a small night team, you’ll be responsible for dealing with driver queries, vehicle breakdowns, delays and last-minute changes, making quick decisions and keeping the operation running smoothly. You’ll also support planning for the following day and provide a detailed handover to the incoming shift.
Previous experience working within an air freight / air cargo environment is essential. Applications without this experience will not be considered.
This is a Full-Time, Permanent position!
What you’ll be doing
- Take ownership of the night-time transport operation and coordinate a fleet of around 20 drivers
- Manage driver issues, vehicle breakdowns, delays and other operational challenges
- Monitor transport activity and make real-time adjustments to keep freight moving
- Coordinate the movement of time-critical air freight and other cargo
- Support planning for the night ahead and following day
- Liaise with drivers, customers, service partners and internal teams
- Complete accurate transport documentation and provide a clear handover to the day shift

4-on-4-off shift pattern (Nights)
7:00pm – 7:00am
Pay
£38,000 - £45,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)
*Overtime available
Skills/Experience Required
- Previous experience within an air freight / air cargo environment is essential
- Proven experience in transport planning, coordination or logistics operations
- Experience coordinating drivers and managing day-to-day transport issues
- Good understanding of HGV driver legislation and transport compliance
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, make decisions and take ownership of the night operation
