About the role as a Casual Equine Teacher:
Activate Learning have an exciting opportunity for a BHS Accredited Professional Equine Teacher to join our team based at our Merrist Wood College.
Working in collaboration with the Equine provision, you will be responsible for the preparation, delivery and assessment of our learning for leisure and commercial provision, that currently consists of clipping courses, BHS care training programmes, private and semi-private riding/theory tuition. You will need to ensure that high standards are maintained throughout, and the provision is facilitated safely and effectively.
Our Land-based department has an excellent record of delivering vocational Equine courses with employability embedded at their heart. This is achieved through excellent relationships with industry and the employment of experts with extensive professional experience within the teaching team. We deliver well-established and highly successful professionally accredited courses in Equine. Within our Equine facilities we have one of the largest indoor riding arenas compared to other colleges in the country and one of the top centres in the southeast, with stabling for over 42 horses and a range of livery options. We were also a pre-Olympic training venue for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
This is a casual role working variable hours based on the learning for leisure courses you are allocated to teach, this can extend to weekends and evenings.
What do you need to be successful as a Casual Equine Teacher in this role?
The successful candidate must hold minimum of a BHS Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship, with an up-to-date Safeguarding, CPD and First Aid qualification.
Whilst previous teaching experience and qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the qualifications to teach on our Equine courses and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.
Your communication and interpersonal skills will be outstanding and support your ability to deliver interesting and purposeful lessons to a diverse range of learners.
