Job Summary
We are seeking a professional LGV 2 Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods using a flatbed vehicle, ensuring timely and accurate transportation to various destinations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a focus on commercial driving and delivery operations. The ideal applicant will possess strong driving skills, a good understanding of road safety regulations, and previous experience in delivery driving.
Responsibilities
- Operate LGV 2 vehicles, including flatbed lorries, in compliance with all road safety and traffic regulations
- Safely load, secure, and unload goods using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules and optimise fuel efficiency
- Conduct pre-journey vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any issues promptly
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and obtain necessary signatures upon receipt of goods
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery times or any unforeseen delays
- Adhere to all health and safety policies during loading, transit, and unloading processes
- Assist with the organisation of deliveries to ensure smooth operation across multiple locations
- This is a multi-drop role, which may include up to 10 deliveries and collections
Qualifications
- Valid LGV 2 licence with a minimum 6 months experience, no major endorsements.
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly in delivery roles involving caged tail-lift deliveries.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for secure cargo transportation
- Ability to operate HGV 2 trucks safely and efficiently, including securing loads properly and to a high standard.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients and team members professionally
- Flexibility to work scheduled shifts that may include early mornings or late finishes as required
- This is an extremely physical position and customer facing role.
