Axcis Education is working with a fantastic specialist primary SEND school in Bournemouth to recruit a compassionate, resilient and dedicated Teaching Assistant. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing, well-resourced environment.

The Role:
Working alongside experienced teachers and therapists, you will support pupils aged 5–11 with a range of complex needs. Every pupil has an EHCP, and many benefit from structured routines, therapeutic approaches and consistent adult support throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing classroom, small group and 1:1 support for pupils with ASC and SEMH
- Promoting emotional regulation, communication and positive behaviour
- Building trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn
- Supporting personalised learning activities tailored to individual EHCP outcomes
- Using positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and families to ensure consistent support
- Helping create a calm, engaging and inclusive learning environment
About You:
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with ASC and/or SEMH
- Can build positive relationships through patience, empathy and consistency
- Has a calm, resilient approach and can confidently manage challenging behaviours
- Understands trauma-informed practice and emotional regulation strategies
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Has experience in education, youth work, care, psychology or a similar setting (desirable)
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
