The Powerplant Engineer will be responsible for the dealing with the customers and technicians on technical questions, development of work scopes, and assisting staff with technical issues as they arise. This role requires a deep understanding of aerospace engineering principles, materials science, and thermodynamics. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and safety of our engines. The Powerplant Engineer will report to the Director of Maintenance.
- Working with customers to develop comprehensive work scopes for powerplants, including turbines, compressors, combustors, and associated control systems.
- Conduct detailed analyses and simulations to optimize engine performance, efficiency, and durability.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for engine performance issues and failures.
- Support the testing and validation of engine components and systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including templates, test plans, and certification reports.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams for engine work scopes, during assembly, and testing.
- Stay current with advancements in aerospace technology and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Having an ability to focus on multiple priorities, whilst maintaining a high standard of work.
- Ability to display clear and concise communication, both written and verbally, internally and externally.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced working environment and the challenges this presents.
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a powerplant engineer.
- Experience with engine testing and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., UK CAA, FAA, EASA).
- 5 years’ experience in engine maintenance preferred.
- Knowledge of engine systems and WPG’s for engines preferred.
- Project management experience preferred.
