About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-focused Senior Finance Assistant to join our finance team in a varied, hands-on role.
This is a great opportunity for someone with previous finance or accounts experience who is currently studying towards AAT, or is part-qualified, and wants to keep developing their accounting and commercial finance skills in a supportive team environment.
You’ll be involved in key day-to-day finance activities, including reconciliations, month-end support, customer account queries, reporting, and process improvements. The role would suit someone who enjoys accuracy, problem solving, and working collaboratively with both finance colleagues and wider business teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Senior Finance Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting accurate financial processes and reporting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing daily bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
- Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting month-end close activities and reporting
- Acting as a key finance contact for customer accounts, responding to queries and maintaining strong relationships
- Producing ad-hoc financial reports and analysis
- Supporting finance process reviews and continuous improvement projects
- Assisting the wider finance team with day-to-day accounting activities
- Maintaining accurate financial records in line with company procedures
- Helping to identify efficiencies and improvements across finance processes and controls
About You
We’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and confident working with numbers, systems, and people.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a finance, accounts, or accounting support role
- AAT studying status or part-qualified accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Experience with bank reconciliations and month-end processes
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to liaise with customers and internal teams
- A proactive approach and willingness to support process improvements
Desirable Experience
The following would be helpful, but not essential:
- Experience using accounting systems or ERP software
- Experience managing customer account queries within a finance function
