Job Summary
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations
within the organisation. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls,
regulatory compliance, and supports strategic decision-making by providing financial insights to
senior leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting
Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or UK GAAP)
Manage the year-end close process and liaise with auditors.
2. Financial Control & Compliance
Develop and maintain robust internal control systems
Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and statutory requirements
Oversee audit processes (internal and external).
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
Support the annual budgeting process
Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts
Provide variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
4. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
Oversee banking relationships and financing arrangements
Ensure optimal cash utilisation.
5. Team Leadership
Manage and develop the finance team
Set objectives and monitor performance
Provide training and mentorship.
6. Strategic Support
Partner with senior management to support business strategy
Provide financial analysis for investment decisions
Support business growth initiatives, acquisitions, or cost optimisation.
7. Process Improvement
Improve financial systems and processes
Drive automation and efficiency within finance operations
Implement best practices in financial management
Key Personal Requirements
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Professional qualification required (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or CPA)
Experience
4–10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance
Experience managing teams and leading financial operations
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills and financial systems expertise
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
