We're looking for an ambitious, commercially focused Depot Manager Designate to join our team in Dartford, London. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operational leader who is ready to develop into a Depot Manager, taking full responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of the branch from January 2027.
You'll spend the coming months working alongside an experienced Depot Manager, gaining valuable insight into every aspect of the business before stepping confidently into full branch leadership.
The Opportunity
As Depot Manager Designate, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day management of the depot while preparing to take ownership of the branch.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the daily operational management of the depot.
- Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing hire desk and operational team.
- Driving sales growth and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Assisting with branch budgeting, cost control and P&L performance.
- Monitoring KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve performance.
- Managing equipment quality, fleet standards and depot presentation.
- Championing health, safety and compliance across all depot activities.
- Maximising equipment utilisation, stock availability and operational efficiency.
- Maintaining accurate business data and operating systems.
- Encouraging teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.
From January 2027, you will assume full responsibility for the commercial and operational success of the Dartford branch, leading the team, driving profitability and delivering outstanding service to our customers.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a management or supervisory role within the plant hire, tool hire, construction, builders' merchant, logistics or a similar operational environment.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing branch performance.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop people.
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with strong organisational ability.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
