Join Our Team as a CCTV Operator, Keeping North Yorkshire Safe
This is a fantastic opportunity to join North Yorkshire Council as a CCTV Operator working out of the Harrogate CCTV Control Room. You will be providing surveillance across many towns in the Harrogate, Northallerton, Selby and surrounding areas.
About the role
The purpose of the role is to take proactive surveillance while reviewing footage and evidence production as well as maintaining fault report logs, updating systems and ensuring equipment faults are reported and rectified.
CCTV systems make a major contribution to the safety of our streets but it’s only as good as the team of operatives who work in the control room. Your vigilance, initiative and sense will make all the difference. Cameras may see everything, but they can’t make decisions, you can!
You will support retail and night-time economy members of the Radio link scheme who operates across the area by sharing intelligence and responding to live incidents.

About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced with computer-based systems and accurate in their work.
- Observant, calm under pressure, and able to handle emergency situations.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and ready to deal with challenging scenarios, including witnessing criminal acts and unpleasant behaviour.
You will be given full training on using the equipment, reviewing digital evidence, maintaining daily logs, use of radios and other duties.
This role you will need to go through and pass the police vetting process as well as undergoing an eye test. To qualify you must have resided in the UK for the last 3 years.
The exact salary for this role is from £27,254 up to £29,064 per annum. Supplements for weekend and night shifts. These payments are annualised.
There can be an additional payment made annually from weekend and night allowances.
We work a 24-hour shift system based on an average 37-hour working week and a five-week rota.
