An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join the Charles Dent Metabolic Unit for a 12 month fixed-term post.
The Charles Dent Metabolic Unit is one of the largest and longest established specialist metabolic centres in the world. The unit provides treatment and care to around 2000 adults with a range of rare inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs). The friendly and welcoming multi-disciplinary team includes specialist doctors, nurses dietitians, and a physiotherapist.
The role entails contributing to the provision of a neuropsychological service for the unit and to a neuropsychological framework for the team. This will include preparation of materials for psychological assessments and interventions, administration and scoring of specialist neuropsychological tools and measures, support in facilitating group interventions for adults living with IMDs and team formulation sessions, and the collection and management of clinical data.
Supervision will be provided by a Principal Clinical Psychologist. The role will provide an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience for a highly motivated psychology graduate who is looking to advance their career in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology.

- Prepare materials for psychological assessments and interventions

- Attend a weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting
- Support the organization and delivery of group interventions for adults with Inherited Metabolic Diseases
- Support the organization and delivery of team formulation sessions for the multi-disciplinary team
- Collate information to contribute to improvements of the metabolic psychology service
- The post requires working with a range of professionals and with adults who may have complex physical, cognitive and mental health needs. The post-holder will have excellent interpersonal skills, communication and attention to detail.
- The post holder will be required to travel to the Charles Dent Unit to work face-to-face with team members and service users.
