Buyer – Joinery & Metalwork (Procurement)

Fit Out UK is a leading UK interior fit-out, logistics and manufacturing contractor specialising in the retail, leisure, commercial and residential sectors. With in-house capabilities spanning design, joinery manufacture, metal fabrication, powder coating and installation, we deliver complex projects nationwide from our bases in London and Sheffield.
We are looking for an experienced Buyer with a strong joinery / shopfitting background to join our procurement team.
The Role
You will take ownership of the procurement of completed joinery, metalwork and furniture packages, ensuring quality, cost and programme requirements are met. This is a hands-on, technically focused buying role that sits at the heart of our self-delivery model.
Key responsibilities include:
- Procuring finished joinery, metalwork and furniture products for fit-out projects
- Interpreting design drawings and technical specifications to accurately source and place orders
- Managing supplier relationships, quotations and negotiations
- Analysing supplier returns, quality issues and performance data
- Ensuring all purchases comply with contractual requirements, specifications and programme constraints
- Working closely with design, production and project teams to support seamless delivery
The Ideal Candidate
- Solid experience in a procurement / buying role within shopfitting, joinery manufacture or interior fit-out
- Previous experience at similar high-end joinery / fit-out businesses would be highly advantageous
- Strong ability to read and understand design drawings and technical information
- Technically minded with a practical understanding of joinery and metalwork fabrication
- Experience analysing supplier performance, returns and quality data
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of contractual requirements
- Confident communicator who can build strong relationships with both internal teams and the supply chain
