The Head Teacher, children, staff and Governing Body of St. Andrew’s Primary School are looking for a primary school teacher, who is an exceptional, highly-motivated, innovative, creative practitioner and is committed to children's learning, wellbeing and the raising of standards. We are a vibrant forward-thinking school with a highly committed, dedicated and hard-working team who strive towards achieving the highest standards for all our children.
We are seeking an outstanding, inspirational and forward-thinking practitioner who has:

- High aspirations for developing pupil participation in the planning process of learning via a practical, hands-on, real-life, skills-based curriculum.

- A keen interest in extra-curricular activities.
- A clear understanding of skills-based curriculum, in particular the Literacy and Numeracy Framework.
- The ability to teach Welsh as a second language.
- The ability to contribute to the development and improvement of the school as a whole.
- Expertise in digital learning.
- An understanding of teaching children with English as an additional language.
- The ability to develop children to be reflective learners.
- A good understanding of both Foundation Phase and a skills-based curriculum at Key Stage 2.
- The ability to build a relationship of mutual respect with the pupils, parents, staff and the Governing Body.
The Area of Responsibility will fall under the Schools as a Learning Organisation model. The area of focus may evolve in line with school improvement priorities.
Outline of the roles and responsibilities initially:
To lead Humanities across the whole school, leading the AoLE team and organising whole school events such as Remembrance, Eid and Cultural Diversity celebrations.- To provide support for the Deputy Headteacher / Assistant Headteacher through professional leadership and management for a team within the school (Early Years or Years 1-3 initially) and be accountable for high quality learning, efficient and effective use of resources and improved standards of teaching and learning for all learners.
– To act as a role model of good classroom practice for other teachers, modelling effective strategies with them.
– To be accountable for promoting effective Teaching and Learning and stimulating learning environments across the team.
– To evaluate the outcomes of effective Teaching and Learning across the phase and contribute to the self-evaluation process of the school.
– To be able to motivate and support other staff. To encourage a shared understanding of the contribution that the school makes to all aspects of learners’ lives.
– To develop strategic plans for the phase which identify clear targets, timetables and success criteria, in the context of the School Development Plan and inform the Governing Body.
– To monitor and evaluate progress against identified targets.
– To monitor and manage standards of behaviour.
– Provide support, challenge and information to all colleagues within the team.
– To take initial responsibility for the pastoral care and wellbeing of staff and pupils within the team.
– To be an active member of Senior Management.
The appointment process will involve a lesson observation and an interview with the Headteacher, senior leaders and members of the Governing Body.
