Experienced Optical Assistant – Part Time (Maternity Cover)
Adam Opticians is a friendly, independent opticians providing eye care to the local community from our practices in Springburn and Castlemilk, Glasgow.
We are looking for an experienced Optical Assistant to join our small, friendly team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract, with the possibility of a future permanent role across our practices. We are ideally looking for someone to start in mid-September, although we can be flexible for the right candidate.
The Role
This is a part-time position, working 9:00am–5:30pm on agreed days, with additional hours available to provide holiday cover when required.
We are flexible regarding the number of days worked and are happy to discuss a working pattern that suits both the successful candidate and the needs of the practice.
As an Optical Assistant, you will play an important role in the smooth running of the practice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients and providing excellent customer service.
- Reception and administrative duties.
- Booking appointments and answering telephone enquiries.
- Assisting patients with choosing frames and recommending suitable spectacle lenses.
- Dispensing spectacles and carrying out fittings and adjustments.
- Supporting the Optometrist with the day-to-day running of the practice.
Full training and ongoing support will be provided to help you develop in the role.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience working as an Optical Assistant.
- Be confident recommending frames and spectacle lenses.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be friendly, organised and reliable.
- Be passionate about delivering exceptional customer service.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
