At The Wooden Horse Nursery, something special is happening…Our fresh new approach to early years care and our newly renovated spaces is drawing in more and more little ones and now we need you to help us continue this amazing journey! As we know, little people need big hearted grown ups. So, we’re on the lookout for a passionate and playful Nursery Practitioner to join our fabulous team across all our unique nursery spaces: Caterpillars , Cocoons, Butterflies, and our specialist Nurtury SEND Hub & Holistic Play Space.
Nursery Practitioner – 24 hours +
Location: Close to Whitby Town Centre
We’re a well established, large, home from home nursery bursting with warmth, creativity, and purpose. The Wooden Horse Nursery is proud to be Whitby’s longest standing nursery –and with your help, we’re excited for what the future holds!We’re looking for someone special, someone who shares our love for early years learning, outdoor adventures, and messy play magic. A passion for early years and a child-led approach

Ready to embrace muddy walks, glitter explosions, and pretend tea parties
Happy to be the tiger from The Tiger Who Came to Tea (roaring optional!)
Loves joining in with messy play, forest school fun, and magical make-believe
Able to adapt and use initiative in a fast-paced environment
Bonus: First aid trained – or willing to train with us! An understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for all children in your care.
- Observe and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians.
- Support children's emotional, social, and physical development through play-based learning.
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress and daily activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high standards of care and education are met.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's development and any concerns that may arise.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the nursery setting.
Skills
- Previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting, not essential but preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills
