Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Part Time Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at Charlottes Restaurant, within our Fairoak Garden Centre. This entry-level role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in food preparation, kitchen operations, and team collaboration within a vibrant hospitality environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for cooking, a strong work ethic, and a desire to grow their culinary career.
The role will be 4/5 days a week (to include Saturday & Sunday) Saturday - Tuesday working between the hours of 0800 - 1700, Sunday 0900- 16.00 therefore NO LATE NIGHTS or SPLIT SHIFTS
Duties
- Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Support the kitchen team in food production, ensuring timely and quality service during busy periods
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations
- Help with inventory control by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or discrepancies
- Contribute to menu planning ideas and support special catering as needed
- Follow all food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality standards are met
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and excellent food service delivery
Skills
- Previous experience in a similar environment is desirable but not essential
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management practices
- Experience with inventory management, food safety protocols, and dietary considerations
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to manage shift responsibilities effectively
- Familiarity with restaurant or hospitality industry standards and customer service excellence
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
