Job Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced and qualified accountant to join our growing team as a Client Accounts Manager. Responsible for managing a portfolio of clients while leading and developing our bookkeeping team.
The successful candidate will be a confident client-facing professional with extensive practice experience, strong technical accounting knowledge, and proven managerial skills. They will play a key role in ensuring exceptional client service, maintaining compliance, improving processes, and supporting the continued growth of the business.
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of business clients.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
- Provide proactive accounting, tax and business advice.
- Lead client meetings, presenting financial information in a clear and commercial manner.
- Identify opportunities to improve clients' financial processes and recommend additional services where appropriate.
- Manage client expectations and ensure high levels of satisfaction.
Accounting & Compliance
- Review bookkeeping completed by the bookkeeping team.
- Prepare and review statutory accounts.
- Review management accounts and financial reports.
- Oversee Corporation Tax, Self-Assessment and Partnership Tax Returns.
- Ensure VAT returns are accurate and submitted on time.
- Support clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC and Companies House obligations.
- Keep up to date with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation.
Leadership & Team Management
- Mentor and develop the bookkeeping
- Allocate workloads and manage team capacity.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.
- Create a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Business Development
- Build trusted relationships with existing clients.
- Identify opportunities to introduce additional accounting, payroll and advisory services.
- Assist Directors with proposals, client onboarding and practice development.
- Represent the business professionally at networking events and client meetings where required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
- Significant experience within an accountancy practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and taxation.
- Demonstrable experience managing a client portfolio.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to prioritise multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail.
- Experience reviewing the work of junior accountants and bookkeepers.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with Xero, QuickBooks and other cloud accounting software.
- Knowledge of CIS, payroll and pension compliance.
- Experience with Making Tax Digital and self-assessments.
- Experience managing workflow within an accountancy practice.
- Practice management software experience.

Pay: £40,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
