SEN Midday Supervisor (Autism Specialist)
Now Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Midday Supervisor with Autism Specialism to support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) during lunchtime and unstructured parts of the school day.
This rewarding role is ideal for someone with experience supporting pupils with autism who can provide a calm, structured, and nurturing environment that promotes wellbeing, independence, and positive social interactions.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support pupils with autism and additional special educational needs during lunchtime.
- Assist pupils in accessing dining and recreational activities safely and confidently.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using autism-friendly approaches.
- Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and engagement with peers.
- Implement individual support strategies, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans where required.
- Encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
- Monitor pupil wellbeing and promptly report concerns to designated staff.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and positive lunchtime environment.
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
- Demonstrate a good understanding of autism, sensory needs, and communication differences.
- Be patient, caring, and resilient, with a positive and flexible approach.
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be able to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
- Remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in a special school, autism provision, or SEN setting.
- Autism awareness training or relevant SEND qualifications.
- Knowledge of visual communication systems, social stories, and positive behaviour support strategies.
