Initially a 9:00–4:30 hrs role (training period), approx. 4–6 weeks, office?based day shifts only.
Post training: move into one of four shifts:
– 06:00–14:15
– 08:00–16:15
– 10:15–18:30
– 13:45–22:00
We are recruiting for a Support Assistant for our client who is a Port Health department. This entry-level administrative position is primarily focused on supporting checks on all EU cargo, handling a variety of documentation and liaising with veterinary and Port Health personnel.
No formal qualifications are required, but the role demands someone who can quickly absorb large volumes of technical information, including health certificates, documentation standards, and liaison requirements.
The role is initially office-based, with a training period of approximately four to six weeks on standard day shifts from 9:00 to 16:30.
Core duties include answering phones, processing documents and post, checking health certificates, and liaising with vets and Port Health Officers.
This is a rolling contract with no fixed end date, historically extended, and requires one week’s notice if terminated. While no prior experience is essential, candidates with strong administrative skills and attention to detail will be highly valued.
Other role details:
The role requires flexibility for unsociable hours, with work expected one weekend in eight, two bank holidays per year, and generally two rest days per month (usually Fridays or Mondays). Depending on the shift, some remote working is possible. For example, the 13:45–22:00 shift is fully remote, and three days a week of WFH can occur during the 06:00–14:15 shift.
The position is based at the DP World logistics park in
Stanford le Hope, Essex, and candidates must have their own transport and a full driving licence, as there are no public transport links.
