Job Overview
The Stock Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inventory activities related to window manufacturing (aluminium, PVC, or uPVC), hardware components (handles, hinges, locks, rollers, screws, gaskets, etc.), and other manufacturing consumables.
They ensure materials are accurately tracked, stored, and supplied to production in line with manufacturing schedules, quality standards, and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Control
- Maintain accurate stock levels of raw materials.
- Conduct regular stock checks and cycle counts; investigate and correct any discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records in inventory management systems (e.g., ERP, MRP, or stock control software).
- Manage reorder levels and trigger replenishment orders to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
Coordination with Production
- Work closely with the production planning team to forecast material requirements.
- Ensure materials are issued on time to avoid production downtime.
- Communicate any material shortages, quality issues, or delivery delays to production management promptly.
- Support efficient flow of components through the manufacturing process (cutting, glazing and assembly etc)
Staff Supervision & Training
- Supervise warehouse and stock control staff — assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Train team members in correct material handling, stock control procedures, and health & safety compliance.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks and morning meetings (09:45 daily)
Process Improvement
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse efficiency and accuracy.
Health, Safety, and Housekeeping
- Lead by example in following all safety procedures and wearing PPE.
- Ensure the team works safely and reports hazards immediately.
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and free of obstructions.
- Participate in toolbox talks and promote a positive safety culture.
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare regular reports on stock levels, discrepancies, consumption trends, and supplier performance.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as stock accuracy, material wastage, and picking efficiency.
- Support budget control and cost-reduction initiatives related to materials and inventory.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Proficient in inventory management software (ERP/MRP systems)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Understanding of manufacturing workflows and materials used in window production
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Optimise storage layouts for better space utilisation and easier access to frequently used materials.
