Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated WEEKEND ONLY Animal Care Assistant to join our veterinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing compassionate care to animals, assisting with daily husbandry tasks, and supporting veterinary professionals in clinical procedures. Responsibilities
- Assist with feeding, watering, and cleaning of animals to ensure their well-being and hygiene standards are maintained
- Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress and report observations to veterinary staff promptly
- Support with the administration of medications and treatments under supervision
- Maintain accurate records of animal care activities and health status
- Assist with laboratory sample collection and processing as required
- Help prepare animals for examinations or procedures, including restraint and positioning
- Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of animal housing areas and equipment
- Follow health and safety protocols diligently to maintain a safe working environment
Experience
- Previous veterinary experience or animal handling is highly desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Passion for animal welfare and a caring attitude are essential qualities for success in this role
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Basic understanding of animal behaviour and handling techniques is advantageous
