Dewey School of Dance is a vibrant, fast‑growing dance school based in the heart of Little Paxton, St Neots. Since opening in 2019, we’ve grown from just 3 classes and 30 students to over 30 weekly classes and more than 160 dancers. Our reputation across St Neots and Little Paxton is built on genuine community spirit - from supporting local events to hosting our much loved annual dance show.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who brings energy, encouragement and genuine care to every class. Someone who lights up a room, inspires young dancers and builds positive relationships with parents.
Available Role
Dance Teacher (self‑employed)
Taking on a selection of existing classes during the principal’s maternity leave from January 2027, with the potential to continue long‑term. The applicant would start training with us in September 2027.
Ideal Background
You may have:
· At least two years’ experience teaching dance on a self‑employed basis
· Experience in the styles listed: Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre
· OR experience working with young children (activity leader, entertainer, nursery assistant, etc.)
Most importantly, you’re someone who sees what we’re building at Dewey School of Dance and wants to be part of the journey.
Responsibilities
· Deliver fun, structured and inspiring dance classes for mixed‑ability groups
· Teach technique, choreography and routines
· Provide supportive, constructive feedback to help students grow
· Create an inclusive, positive learning environment
· Assist with show preparation, watching weeks and performance opportunities
· Maintain your own CPD and stay engaged with your teaching practice
· Communicate confidently with parents and use our online booking system (training provided)
Essential Requirements
· Experience teaching all dance style listed above
· Experience working with young children
· A friendly, patient and nurturing teaching style
· Ability to plan creative and engaging lessons
· Independent travel to Little Paxton Community Hub & Village Hall
· Willingness to obtain First Aid and Enhanced DBS
· Confidence using basic online systems (training provided)
Desirable Qualities
· Enjoy building relationships with parents
· Own a portable speaker
· ISTD DDE (or equivalent) or working towards
· A‑Level or Degree in Dance or a teaching‑related subject
· Familiarity with ISTD syllabuses
