Home Dialysis Health Care Assistant Band 3 - 37.5 hours per week (Permanent)
Working throughout North Cumbria the Home Dialysis Team aim to provide high quality, individualised care to those requiring either peritoneal or home haemodialysis. These new posts have come about due to a remodelling of the service to fit the needs of an ever evolving Health Service. The successful candidates will work along side the Specialist Nurses and other members of the MDT to promote independence and a high quality of life for our patients.
The main duties of this post revolve around care of dialysis dependent patients in their own home.
As North Cumbria is a large, mostly rural area the post holder may need to drive quite long distances between patients.
An ability to plan their work is therefore important. This post involves venepuncture and monitoring of blood pressure, weight etc. Renewing dressings following ANTT protocols and instructing patients how to do so themselves is part of the role. Communicating within the team is a vital role.
Unfortunately the Trust will be unable to sponsor you under SOC code 6131. The reason for this is that this role has a lack of direct supervision whilst carrying out duties: SOC 6131 requires the employee to actively assist and work alongside Registered Nurses or Doctors. Routine care duties performed alone in a private residence caring for patients does not meet this definition.
To assist registered nurses in providing high quality patient care to dialysis dependent patients in their own homes.

Maintain patients' privacy and dignity at all times
Work and duties will be set, directly managed and indirectly supervised by a Registered Nurse.

Adhere to infection control protocols.
Comply with annual updates
Adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
Ensure extended scope training is completed pertinent to the role.
