Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging activities and programs for residents in a nursing home.
- Create a calendar of events and coordinate with staff to ensure activities are executed smoothly.
- Plan and lead group activities such as games, crafts, exercise classes, and outings.
- Provide individualized attention and support to residents with dementia or memory impairments.
- Collaborate with the care team to assess residents' needs and preferences for activities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and document any changes in behaviour or mood.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote a positive and inclusive environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in mental health or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of mental health techniques and strategies is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Compassionate and patient demeanour when working with older adults.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules in a dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise during activities.
