HR & Recruitment Officer Harlow, CM20 | £31,279 – £35,619 | Full-time, Permanent
We're an established and fast-growing distributor in the renewable energy sector, operating from multiple sites. We're hiring across warehousing, sales, logistics and technical roles — and we need someone to own that hiring and keep our people processes tight as we scale.
This is a hands-on, standalone-ish HR role with real breadth. If you want to run recruitment end to end and build out HR practice in a business that's growing fast, this will suit you.
What you'll be doing
Recruitment
- Work with managers across the group to scope vacancies and write job descriptions
- Source candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, agencies, referrals and direct approaches
- Screen CVs, run first-stage interviews and shortlist for hiring managers
- Coordinate interviews, chase feedback and keep the process moving
- Make offers, agree terms and manage candidates through to start date
Onboarding
- Run inductions and make sure new starters land well
- Complete new-hire paperwork, right-to-work checks and contract issue
- Be the first point of contact for new starters' questions
HR administration
- Keep employee records accurate and current in our HR system
- Process starters, leavers, promotions, transfers and contract changes
- Support payroll input and benefits administration, including pension enrolment
- Produce headcount, absence and turnover reporting for management
Policy and compliance
- Keep up to date with UK employment law and flag anything that affects us
- Maintain and update the employee handbook, policies and procedures
- Support managers with day-to-day HR queries and casework
- Help maintain health and safety documentation and site records
What we're looking for
Essential:
- At least 2 years in an HR and/or recruitment role
- Solid working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Confident interviewing and dealing with managers at all levels

Desirable:
- CIPD Level 3 or 5 (or working towards), or a degree in HR, Business or similar
- In-house recruitment experience in trade, distribution, construction or logistics
- Experience with an HRIS and with payroll input
