Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and culinary arts, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise in creating authentic sushi dishes while maintaining high standards of food safety and presentation. Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes, ensuring authenticity and quality standards are met
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station in accordance with food safety regulations
- Select fresh ingredients and prepare them for use in sushi preparation, including fish, rice, vegetables, and garnishes
- Assist in developing new sushi recipes and presentation styles to enhance menu offerings
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands
- Adhere strictly to hygiene standards and food safety protocols at all times
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate meal preparation and service efficiently
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify management when supplies need replenishing
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a chef within a restaurant environment, ideally specialising in Japanese cuisine or sushi
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene
- Excellent skills in meal preparation, plating, and presentation of sushi dishes
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced restaurant setting is desirable
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- A passion for culinary arts and continuous learning within the field of Japanese cuisine
Pay: £12.21-£17.11 per hour
