Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our experienced and talented head chef, in delivering high-quality meals and exceptional service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within a dynamic food service environment. The successful candidate will be involved in various aspects of food preparation, kitchen organisation, and maintaining safety standards. Prior experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant settings is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position is paid and suitable for those eager to gain practical culinary experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist with meal preparation and food assembly according to established recipes and safety standards
- Support the kitchen team with food safety procedures, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Help with cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to ensure a hygienic environment
- Prepare ingredients such as chopping vegetables or portioning supplies for service
- Serve food items to customers or staff in a courteous and professional manner
- Maintain organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring all items are stored correctly and efficiently
- Support with stock rotation and inventory checks to minimise waste and ensure freshness of ingredients
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times during food handling and preparation activities
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
