This role is generally carried out inside normal working hours (7am to 7pm) with some requirements to work outside normal working hours including weekends, bank holidays and evenings to meet the needs of the service on a standby basis.
Calderdale Council’s Corporate Asset and Facilities Management (CAFM) Service is responsible for the council’s property assets, ensuring that they are fit for purpose, deliver value for money, and support and enhance service delivery. We have a diverse property portfolio: around 300 buildings including leisure facilities, office buildings, public conveniences and the iconic Halifax and Todmorden Town Halls.
A new opportunity exists for a Team Leader to join the service and lead a Facilities Management (FM) Support Team, this team supports the delivery of a variety of Council Services and must be responsive and efficient to deliver a quality service.
The key responsibilities of the post are:
Working at a variety of locations in Calderdale for most of the time, including Council and non-Council premises as well as visiting and liaising with clients, contractors, and service providers so driving is essential.
- Provide first line management and manage staff resources efficiently to ensure that service needs are met, this will involve; organising work patterns/rotas, processing leave requests and organising cover, monitoring standards, sickness notification recording and ensuring the Council’s HR Management System is up to date.
- Have a good knowledge of COSHH, all cleaning regimes, security systems, fire alarm & evacuation procedures for each building in their area and carry out regular safety checks and audit checks on all sites to ensure all tasks are compliant and have been completed to the required standard.
- Provide onsite practical training to Facilities Support Staff which will cover induction, Health & Safety operational requirements, all mandatory training and ensuring that staff are conversant with Council procedures and policies.
- Flexible approach to the requirements of the role providing cover for cleaning / housekeeping and Field Officers when required and working closely with the other Team Leaders to provide cover.
With a good level of education and working knowledge of Health and Safety or evidence of continuous development in a facilities management function, the successful candidate will be a result driven people manager with an understanding of soft and hard FM services. You will demonstrate the ability to drive operational improvement and build relationships, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service levels are always achieved.
