We are looking for reliable and motivated self-employed courier drivers to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy driving, working independently and also collaborating with others on more hands-on tasks.
This role offers a mix of standard deliveries and opportunities to work as part of a team completing delivery and installation jobs. As a courier driver, you will be responsible for delivering/installing items efficiently and safely to customers while providing a high standard of service at various locations across the UK.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, a professional attitude, physical strength and the ability to navigate routes effectively. The Courier will play a vital part in maintaining our company's reputation for timely and accurate deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver parcels within an allocated area (not multi-drop)
- Follow delivery routes provided to optimise efficiency and timeliness
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule
- Handle items with care to avoid damage
- Safely operate company vehicles, including vans, lutons or curtain siders adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Maintain the cleanliness and basic maintenance of the vehicle and carry out daily checks to ensure the vehicle can be maintained
- Assist with loading and heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety procedures are followed
- Assist with safe handling, lifting, and basic installation tasks at customer locations
- Communicate effectively with our transport team regarding delivery status or issues encountered during routes
- Deliver a professional and friendly customer experience at every stop
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding deliveries and installations
- Work as part of a team on selected jobs involving delivery and installation of larger items (e.g. furniture)
- Use a smartphone app to manage deliveries and track progress
- Obtain signatures or proof of delivery from recipients as required
Requirements
- Full UK driving license (held for at least 1 year)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently under minimal supervision
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Communication skills to liaise with customers and team members effectively
- Confident, polite, and professional when dealing with customers
- Strong people skills and a customer-focused attitude
- Presentable and able to represent the business
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy items when required
- Smartphone
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Over age 25
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, with a strong understanding of commercial driving practices
- A clean driving record
- Experience in customer-facing roles
- Experience in furniture delivery or installation
