As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Business Unit Manager to lead one of our key operational areas and help drive performance, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the business.
The Role
As Business Unit Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of your business unit, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, productivity, and people management are achieved.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver operational excellence, meet customer requirements, and contribute to the overall success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a positive Health & Safety culture across the business unit.
- Ensure compliance with all quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements, including BRCGS, HACCP, and GMP standards.
- Deliver operational KPIs relating to productivity, labour efficiency, OTIF, waste reduction, and OEE performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
- Lead, coach, and develop operational teams to maximise engagement and performance.
- Manage staffing levels, labour utilisation, and operational budgets.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Warehouse teams to achieve business objectives.
- Ensure site security, food defence, and asset protection procedures are maintained.
- Lead investigations into safety, quality, or operational issues and implement effective corrective actions.
About You
We are looking for a strong leader with a proven track record in manufacturing management who can inspire teams and deliver results.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing leadership or management role.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of food manufacturing standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Experience managing operational KPIs, budgets, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing Health & Safety and Quality systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Experience within the beverage, food, or FMCG manufacturing sector.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualifications.
- IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Knowledge of BRCGS standards.
- Project management experience.
