We are seeking two dedicated people who are passionate about working in the care sector as a Cook. Previous experience as a Cook is essential. The role will be to cater for the residents residing in the care home up to 37 Clients.
The Job will be located at The Manor House Care Home Little Weighton, HU20 3XE. The care home is newly opened however our company is well established which prides itself in person centred care for over 20 years. As a company we pride ourselves on delivering person centred care to the highest standards and adopt a strength based approach to care. We provide care and support to the elderly and to anyone over the age of 18 and work in partnership with the NHS and East Riding of Yorkshire Council. We are one of the very first companies in the UK to operate in collaborative way.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Meal Preparation and Service: Prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals following standardized recipes and presentation standards.
- Resident Engagement: Liaise with residents to ensure satisfaction with food and beverages, actively promoting choice and dignity in the dining experience.
- Dietary Requirements: Ensure the nutritional content of all meals caters to the specific dietary needs and restrictions of residents, as ordered by physicians.
- Hygiene and Safety: Adhere to all regulatory and statutory requirements, company policies, and food safety management documentation (HACCP procedures) to maintain exceptional cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Team Support and Guidance: Assist the Head, Sous, and Assistant Chefs with kitchen operations and guide kitchen assistants to ensure high standards of service delivery.
- Audits and Compliance: Help the kitchen team action any requirements from internal and external audits within specified timescales.
- Inventory Management: Assist with the proper storage of food items, monitor temperatures, and ensure minimum waste.
Training, Skills & Experience Required
- Experience within a similar kitchen environment is required, ideally within a care setting (desirable but not essential).
- An NVQ Level 2 in Food Hygiene is an essential qualification.
- Reliable with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and high attention to detail.
- Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities and follow therapeutic diets
