With over 50 years of industry experience, M&J Group is a market-leading specialist construction company operating across three core divisions: Flat Roofing, Pitched Roofing, and Construction. Our Construction Division continues to grow rapidly, delivering projects ranging from £250k to £3 million across the UK. We work on a variety of schemes — from Department for Education (CIF-funded) projects and competitive tenders to education-sector refurbishments — covering everything from fire compliance and structural repairs to M&E upgrades, envelope works, full refurbishments, and new builds.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the continued growth of our Construction Division and play a key role in delivering high-quality projects nationwide.
What Are We Looking For?
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in construction refurbishment projects. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proven Quantity Surveying experience gained within the construction industry and have a track record of successfully managing commercial aspects of projects from inception through to completion.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Demonstrable experience gained with previous employers, ideally within refurbishment, education, or general construction projects.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage costs, valuations, subcontractor accounts, and project budgets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive and solution-focused approach to work.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines and project timescales.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or another construction-related discipline.
- Experience working on refurbishment, education-sector, or CIF-funded projects.
- Knowledge of standard forms of construction contracts and procurement processes.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry (preferred).
- Proven experience managing the commercial elements of refurbishment and construction projects.
- Degree-qualified in a construction-related discipline such as Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Commercial Management (desirable).
