KITCHEN MANAGER
The Elephant & Castle – Dawley, Telford
We’re looking for an experienced, reliable and hands-on Kitchen Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our kitchen.
This isn’t a traditional Head Chef role. We operate an established, straightforward, value-led pub menu, so we’re looking for someone who can lead the kitchen, maintain excellent standards and keep everything running smoothly, while still being very much part of the cooking team.
The Role
As Kitchen Manager, you’ll take ownership of the kitchen operation and work alongside the team during service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supervising the kitchen team
- Working hands-on in the kitchen and cooking during service
- Ensuring food is prepared and presented consistently
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards
- Completing and overseeing all food safety documentation
- Managing stock levels, ordering and deliveries
- Monitoring portion control, wastage and food costs
- Helping achieve agreed GP and kitchen budgets
- Managing kitchen rotas and keeping labour costs under control
- Ensuring correct food storage, date labelling and stock rotation
- Making sure opening and closing procedures are completed correctly
- Training and supporting kitchen team members
- Maintaining equipment and reporting any maintenance issues
- Working closely with the management team to ensure smooth service between the kitchen and front of house
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a busy pub, restaurant or similar kitchen
- Is confident taking responsibility for a kitchen and its team
- Is organised and able to manage stock, ordering and food costs
- Has strong food hygiene knowledge
- Takes pride in cleanliness and kitchen standards
- Can lead by example rather than simply manage from the sidelines
- Remains calm and organised during busy services
- Is reliable, hardworking and commercially aware
- Understands the importance of portion control, waste management and profitability
Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, Kitchen Supervisor, Senior Chef or Sous Chef would be ideal.
What We Offer

- A straightforward, established menu
- A busy and popular community pub
- Support from an experienced management team
- The opportunity to take ownership of the kitchen without the pressures of a traditional Head Chef position
- Staff benefits and discounts
- A friendly, established team
This role would particularly suit an experienced chef or senior kitchen team member who is ready to take the next step and run their own kitchen.
If you think you’ve got the experience, attitude and leadership skills we’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour
