About the Role - Mechanical Engineering Teacher
You will join our thriving Engineering teaching team and play an important role in delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across our Mechanical Engineering programmes at our Bracknell and Wokingham college.
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering professional with strong practical and workshop-based skills who can bring industry knowledge and hands-on experience into the classroom. The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of Mechanical Engineering, with particular expertise in General Machining, Welding, Sheet Metal Work and General Mechanical Maintenance.
You will be confident using a range of hand tools, machinery and workshop equipment and be able to demonstrate safe and effective working practices. You will use your practical experience to deliver engaging, purposeful and industry-relevant lessons to Level 2 and Level 3 students, helping them develop the technical knowledge, practical competence and professional behaviours needed to progress into employment, apprenticeships or further education.
This is a full-time (37 hours per week), permanent position.
What do you need to be successful as a Mechanical Engineering Teacher?
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Teacher who can act as a role model for our students and ensure that they leave us with not just their professional qualifications, but the practical skills, confidence and attributes required to progress in the world of work.
You will have a genuine interest in working with and developing young people and be able to share your practical engineering knowledge in an engaging and accessible way.

Whilst previous teaching experience or a teaching qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the qualifications or industry experience to teach on our Mechanical Engineering courses and demonstrate the attributes of an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.
What we are looking for

Level 3 or above qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline

Practical industry experience across General Machining, Welding, Sheet Metal Work and General Mechanical Maintenance

Educated to GCSE level 4/C or equivalent including Maths & English

Experience of working in a practical/workshop environment

Teaching and Assessing experience would be advantageous

Experience of IQA and BTEC/T Levels teaching would be desirable
