Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled 2nd Fix Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing the second phase of carpentry work on residential and commercial projects, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and safety. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilising a broad range of carpentry and construction skills. Applicants must be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism and attention to detail throughout their duties.
Responsibilities
- Installing internal fixtures such as doors, skirting boards, architraves, and cabinetry in accordance with project specifications
- Fitting joinery components with precision using hand tools and power tools
- Assisting with fabrication and assembly of bespoke timber elements
- Performing roofing tasks, including fixing battens and installing roof coverings where required
- Conducting heavy lifting of materials and components safely and efficiently
- Assisting with plumbing, electrical, masonry, or construction painting tasks as needed on site
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations and company standards
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment at all times
- Collaborating closely with other tradespeople such as electricians, plumbers, and masons to ensure seamless project progression
Skills
- Proven experience in carpentry, joinery, and fabrication techniques
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised joinery equipment
- Strong understanding of construction processes including roofing, masonry, plumbing, electrical works, and painting
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
- Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and working at heights or in confined spaces
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and site managers
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
