Job Summary
We are looking for a Waste Operative to join our team. This is an outdoor job, so you must be comfortable to work in all weathers. The job consists of sorting, separating and processing the different wastes that are tipped. The job is physically active, and must be willing to work as part of a team as well as completing individual tasks.
Responsibilities
- Separate and sort waste materials into designated areas within the site
- Ensure proper segregation of recyclable materials and non-recyclables in accordance with company policies
- Assist with the loading and unloading of waste containers from lorries or other transport vehicles
- Conduct routine inspections of waste storage areas to identify hazards or spillages
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Assist with general site housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe working environment
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge is highly desirable to operate waste handling machinery effectively
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, often moving bulky or heavy waste items
- Physically fit with good stamina to work on your feet for extended periods
- Good communication skills for teamwork and reporting issues promptly
This role is working in a physically active outdoor environment. The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety-conscious, and work in an efficient manner
Pay: £24,420.00-£30,000.00 per year
