Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Part-time Caretaker to assist with the maintenance and general upkeep of our premises.The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and organisation of the property, providing a welcoming environment for visitors and staff alike. This role requires hours to be worked around the hall's bookings over 3 days. Usually Tuesdays, Thursday and Fridays. Must live within 10 minutes travelling distance of the community Centre to facilitate prompt response to any call out.
Duties
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify maintenance issues or safety hazards
- Carry out basic cleaning tasks, including sweeping, dusting, and waste disposal
- Maintain outdoor areas such as entrances to ensure they are tidy and safe
- Assist with minor repairs or coordinate with professional contractors for more complex issues
- Monitor security systems and ensure all entry points are secure after hours
- Keep records of maintenance activities and report any significant concerns to management
- Support event setup or breakdown as required, ensuring the premises are prepared appropriately
- Respond promptly to any emergency situation or urgent repairs during working hours
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, or a similar role is desirable but not essential
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision
- Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Physical fitness to carry out manual tasks such as lifting or moving equipment and outdoor maintenance
- Friendly attitude with excellent communication skills
- Flexibility to adapt to varying duties and schedules as needed.
