Location: The Landmark London, Marylebone / Hybrid

Job Type: Full-time
About Richard George Tailoring
Richard George Tailoring is an independent British tailoring business specialising in bespoke and made-to-measure clothing for men and women.
From our showrooms in Warwickshire and at The Landmark London in Marylebone, we work with private clients, business leaders and organisations who value exceptional clothing, personal service and long-term relationships.
Our approach is highly individual. We do not impose a house style. We get to know our clients, understand their lifestyle and requirements, and help them build wardrobes around how they actually live and work.
We are now looking for someone to help us grow our London business.
The Role
This is a client-facing sales and business development position.
You will be responsible not only for looking after existing clients and converting incoming opportunities, but for actively creating new business.
A significant part of the role is getting out into London, developing relationships, building a network and creating reasons for prospective clients to engage with Richard George Tailoring.
You will work closely with the founder and have considerable responsibility for developing your own portfolio of clients.
This is not a role for someone who wants to stand in a showroom and wait for customers to arrive.
What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and developing your own portfolio of clients
- Generating new appointments and sales opportunities
- Meeting clients in our Landmark London showroom
- Developing relationships with businesses and professionals around London
- Building referral and partnership relationships
- Developing opportunities within The Landmark London and its wider network
- Networking and attending relevant events
- Identifying corporate and business opportunities
- Prospecting through LinkedIn, introductions, referrals and direct outreach
- Following up prospective clients consistently
- Re-engaging existing and dormant clients
- Understanding client requirements and recommending appropriate garments
- Converting enquiries and appointments into sales
- Developing repeat business and long-term client relationships
- Maintaining accurate records and follow-up activity
- Representing Richard George Tailoring appropriately inside and outside the showroom
You will receive training in our products, tailoring process, fabrics and approach to client consultation.
Who We Are Looking For
We are deliberately open-minded about background.
You may already work in tailoring or luxury menswear, but equally you could come from luxury hospitality, five-star hotels, private members' clubs, watches and jewellery, premium automotive, property, recruitment, events, professional services or another relationship-led sales environment.
Technical tailoring knowledge can be taught.
What is harder to teach is the ability to build relationships, create opportunities and turn them into commercial results.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident and highly personable
- Polished and professional
- Comfortable speaking with senior, affluent and high-net-worth clients
- Commercially minded
- Naturally good at developing relationships
- Proactive rather than reactive
- Comfortable prospecting and approaching new people
- Organised and disciplined with follow-up
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Resilient
- Comfortable networking
- Interested in developing their own network and book of clients
- Able to represent a luxury business with discretion and professionalism
- Interested in clothing, style and craftsmanship
A background in luxury tailoring, bespoke, made-to-measure or luxury retail would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
We are more interested in your commercial ability, personality and track record of developing relationships.
What Success Looks Like
You will be expected to create activity rather than wait for it.
Success in the role will include:
- Developing a growing portfolio of private clients
- Consistently generating new appointments
- Converting appointments into profitable sales
- Developing repeat business
- Building productive referral relationships
- Creating new partnerships and corporate opportunities
- Maintaining an active pipeline of prospective clients
- Contributing directly to the growth of the London business
This is relationship-led luxury sales. We are not interested in aggressive selling or unnecessary discounting.
What We Offer
- £40,000–£45,000 basic salary depending on experience
- Uncapped commission
- Realistic first-year OTE of £55,000–£70,000+, with further upside for exceptional performance
- Prestigious showroom at The Landmark London, Marylebone
- Hybrid working with up to one remote working day per week where appropriate
- Direct involvement with the founder of the business
- Considerable autonomy and responsibility
- Training in tailoring, fabrics and wardrobe consultation
- Tailored wardrobe allowance
- Employee discount
- Company pension
- Opportunity to build your own portfolio of high-value clients
- Genuine scope for the role to grow as the London business develops
Working Pattern
This is a full-time, London-based role with a hybrid element.
The role will normally involve working five days per week, including Saturday, with one weekday off.
Most of the role will be spent at The Landmark London, attending client appointments, networking, meeting prospective clients and developing relationships around London.
Up to one day per week may be worked remotely for focused prospecting, CRM management, planning and follow-up, where client appointments and business requirements allow.
The remote-working day is not intended to be a fixed protected day and flexibility will be required according to client demand and commercial opportunities.
There will also be occasions where networking, client appointments or events take place outside normal showroom hours.
Work location: The Landmark London, Marylebone, NW1 6JQ, client locations across London and remote working where appropriate.
Please note applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Proof of eligibility to work in the UK will be required before employment commences.
