Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organised Assistant Manager to join our team for our New store in Southend. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in retail or sales management. This role involves supporting the store manager in daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring exceptional customer service. The Assistant Manager will play a vital part in driving sales, maintaining merchandising standards, and fostering a positive team environment. Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to effectively communicate with diverse customer bases and team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist the store manager in overseeing daily store operations to ensure smooth functioning.
- Supervise and motivate team members to achieve sales targets and deliver outstanding customer service.
- Manage staff schedules, delegate tasks, and monitor performance to maintain high standards of efficiency.
- Support in training new employees and conducting ongoing staff development programmes.
- Ensure merchandising standards are maintained, including product placement, visual displays, and stock levels.
- Handle customer enquiries professionally via phone and in person, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Analyse sales data to identify opportunities for growth and implement strategies accordingly.
- Assist with administrative duties such as stock control, reporting, and maintaining organisational records.
- Foster a positive team environment through effective communication and leadership skills.
- Support promotional activities and participate in community engagement initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven management or supervisory experience within retail or sales environments.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written; multilingual or bilingual abilities are advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in merchandising, sales management, and customer service excellence.
- Good time management skills with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Administrative experience including stock control, reporting, and record keeping.
- Professional phone etiquette and organisational skills essential for effective communication with customers and staff alike.
- Ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining a positive attitude.
