Job Title: Kitchen Assistant/ Cook
Responsible to: Service Lead
Core Responsibilities;
1. To prepare nutritional food to a high standard and to meet all if any special dietary requirements.
2. To be familiar with the regulations and procedures required with regard to food hygiene ensuring that a high standard is maintained at all times.
3. To prepare daily menus in accordance with the weekly menus put in place by the manager, there is to be no changes to these menus without authorisation from a designated person.
4. To monitor stock levels of fresh and frozen food and notify senior staff of requirements.
5. To report to management any maintenance problems with regard to kitchen equipment.
6. Ensure the kitchen and all equipment and surfaces are maintained in a spotlessly clean and tidy condition after all meals. To ensure there are no trip hazards.
7. To ensure that cooking utensils and equipment are put away before going off duty.
8. To ensure there is always ONE member of staff in the kitchen at all times to maintain Fire Safety and Health and Safety. This meaning only ONE assistant can be on a break at any one time.
9. To carry out all procedures in the home in regard to the food hygiene, fire precautions and health and safety legislation.
10. To complete all weekly audits and monitoring of all kitchen documents and report back to designated person.
10. Following local safeguarding procedures to prevent, report and record any type of abuse.
11. Completing in house, face to face training and e-learning training and any other training identified by your manager, including attending courses at different venues.
12.To work within health and safety guidelines and participate in regular manual handling training.
13.Following company policies and procedures and acting in a professional manner at all times.
14.To maintain a smart and professional personal appearance, upholding the standards of the home.
