As a Data Engineer, you will:
Design, build and maintain data pipelines in Azure and Databricks, supporting the ingestion and transformation of data from source systems through to curated datasets
Implement scalable ELT processes using Databricks and PySpark
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) together with CI/CD pipelines to support automated deployments
Implement data quality, lineage, monitoring and observability across our data platform
Optimise Azure data services for performance, reliability and cost efficiency
Work closely with colleagues across the Data team to deliver high-quality, secure and well-governed data solutions
Follow DevOps and Git best practices, ensuring all solutions are robust, maintainable and aligned to architectural standards
You will join:
A highly collaborative technical delivery team responsible for developing and supporting Midland Heart's Azure data platform and cloud-based lakehouse architecture. Working alongside Data Architects, Business Intelligence Developers and Analysts, you'll help deliver reliable, scalable data solutions that underpin reporting, analytics and business decision-making.
Our ideal candidate? We're seeking an experienced professional with:
Experience designing reliable, maintainable and observable data engineering solutions for production environments.
Experience building end-to-end data pipelines in Azure and Databricks environments including reliability, monitoring, and observability
Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
Experience implementing data quality, lineage, metadata and security controls in modern data platforms.
Strong Python development skills and advanced SQL for data engineering.
As a smart working organisation, you can expect a balance of working from the office (Birmingham, Bath Row) and from home. Typically, you'll be working from the office 3 days per week and 2 days per week from home.
