Daisy Inclusive UK is a charity that helps disabled and vulnerable people and their families to reach their true potential.
Role Purpose
We are looking for a dedicated Volunteer Allotment Gardener to help maintain and develop our community allotment. The allotment plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing of our beneficiaries by providing opportunities for outdoor activity, learning, social interaction and healthy living.
The volunteer will help ensure the allotment remains a safe, productive and enjoyable space for everyone who uses it.
Main Duties
· Plant, grow and maintain fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers.
· Water crops and plants as required.
· Weed and maintain growing areas.
· Prepare beds for planting throughout the year.
· Harvest produce when ready.
· Maintain pathways, raised beds and general allotment areas.
· Assist with composting and environmentally friendly gardening practices.
· Help keep tools, equipment and storage areas tidy.
· Identify and report any maintenance or health and safety concerns.
· Support beneficiaries who wish to participate in gardening and allotment activities.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone who:
· Has experience or a keen interest in gardening, growing vegetables or allotment work.
· Is reliable and able to work independently.
· Enjoys working outdoors.
· Has good communication skills.
· Is patient, friendly and supportive.
· Understands the importance of creating an inclusive environment for disabled and vulnerable people.
