Role Overview
We are looking for a confident and motivated New Business Sales Executive to help bring new clients into the business. The main purpose of this role is to identify potential customers, approach businesses, generate leads, arrange meetings, prepare quotations, search for tender opportunities, and help secure new transport and logistics contracts.
This role would suit someone who is confident speaking to business owners, transport managers, logistics managers, warehouse managers, procurement teams, and commercial decision-makers. - Review tender requirements and identify whether opportunities are suitable for the company.
- Assist with preparing tender submissions, pre-qualification questionnaires, pricing documents, proposals, and supporting information.
- Work with the directors and operations team to gather the required information for tenders, including fleet details, compliance information, insurance documents, service capability, pricing, and operational procedures.
- Contact businesses in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, warehousing, retail, distribution, public sector, and freight forwarding.
- Build relationships with decision-makers and understand their transport requirements.
- Arrange meetings with potential clients to discuss their logistics needs.
- Prepare and send quotations with support from the directors and operations team.
- Follow up on enquiries, leads, quotations, tenders, and potential opportunities.
- Keep accurate records of calls, leads, meetings, quotations, tender submissions, and new business activity.
- Work closely with the operations team to make sure new work can be delivered correctly and profitably.
- Help secure regular work, long-term clients, tenders, frameworks, and repeat business for the company.
Ideal Candidate
- Previous sales experience is preferred, ideally within transport, haulage, logistics, freight, warehousing, construction, or another B2B industry.
- Experience with tendering, procurement portals, framework applications, or bid submissions would be an advantage.
- Confident speaking to new customers and approaching businesses.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Able to work independently and generate new leads.
- Motivated, target-driven, and focused on results.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow up properly.
- Basic understanding of UK road transport or logistics would be an advantage.
- Existing contacts within transport, logistics, warehousing, construction, manufacturing, public sector, or distribution would be beneficial.
- Good written English and attention to detail, especially when preparing proposals, quotations, and tender documents.
What We Offer
- Competitive basic salary with commission/bonus opportunities.
- Opportunity to join an established transport company with over 10 years of trading history.
- Genuine opportunity to help grow the business and progress within the company.
- Support from experienced directors and transport operations staff.
- A role where performance and results are recognised.
