York Carers Centre
Young Adult Carer Support Worker – 10 hours per week
Salary: £26,409 per annum pro rata (Actual Salary £7,137)
Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2027
York Carers Centre is an independent charity supporting unpaid carers in York. We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join our friendly dedicated team, helping young adult carers (aged 18-25yrs) to maintain their health and wellbeing through the provision of information, advice and support.
We have secured short-term funding to deliver an employability project to young adult carers; however, we are looking to continue this role if further funding is found.
The post involves planning and delivering activities and group work, so applicants will need excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as creativity. You will plan and deliver initiatives that help young adult carers build healthy networks, access education, training and employment, and influence local and national service delivery.
You will also provide one to one emotional support, information and advice, and support the Lead Officer for Young Adult Carers in assessments and service delivery. An understanding of the needs and rights of unpaid carers will be required.
If you are empathetic and compassionate, have experience of supporting and engaging with vulnerable individuals and have knowledge of the voluntary and statutory services, then we’d love to hear from you.
The role will involve flexible/hybrid working travelling to and working from a range of outreach venues in the York area.
In return we’ll offer you:
- The opportunity to make a notable contribution to our work in making a difference to the lives of carers in York
- A friendly supportive working environment
- Generous Annual Leave
- Great flexible hybrid working options
- Learning and development opportunities
- Contributory pension scheme
